I’m talking to you – you’re the one who reads my posts about significance and you shake your head and think you’re an exception. Either you’ve screwed up too many times, or it just feels like too much work to live like the marvel you are.
The thing about being significant is that you are no better or worse than anyone else. We’ve all felt the way you feel. I wake up some days wanting to stay in bed and pout. Sometimes I end up doing just that. But that’s no way to live. So get up and do something today that will make you feel better.
Make a detailed list of all the things you need to do. Include the things that are normal daily requirements, like brushing your teeth and eating breakfast. Include a few important action items, maybe things you’ve been procrastinating on. Check off each item as you complete it. Just the act of checking the items off the list will help you see that you are being productive.
There’s a great post on this topic by Alexis Grant. She writes,
Doesn’t matter if you’re 25, 35, 55 or 85 — it’s NEVER too late to change your priorities.
Remember, you are significant because you are different, not because you are better or worse than anyone else. So stop feeling sorry for yourself and start living your significance!
